What is PMS?
PMS or Pre-Menstrual Syndrome is a condition of hormonal imbalance and affects 80% of all women at some time during their reproductive years. The hormonal and chemical changes during this time can cause debilitating symptoms and can disrupt body systems and a woman's emotional life. The symptoms can be severe enough to cause women to seek help from a health care practitioner.
What are the symptoms of PMS?
Some of the main symptoms of PMS include moodiness, water retention, abdominal cramps, headaches, sore breasts, food cravings – especially chocolate and carbohydrates, backache, headache, insomnia, depression, anger, and fatigue.
How do I know if I suffer from PMS?
If you find that you suffer from any of the above mentioned symptoms at the point in your cycle leading up to your period but notice that the symptoms are absent just after the onset or end of menses, then you likely have PMS.
